BENEFITS (保障范围):
Maximum Benefits: $100,000.Hospital and medical expenses - Up to the amount of insurance purchased for emergency hospitalization (ward accommodation) following an accident or illness.
Physician, surgeon, anaesthetist and registered nurse services.
Medical appliances – rental or purchase cost for crutches, canes, wheelchair or other when prescribed by an attending physician.
Diagnostic Treatment including laboratory texts and X-ray when prescribed by a physician.
Prescription drugs except for continued stabilization or chronic medical condition.
Accidental Dental: Up to $1,000 for repair or replacement of whole or sound natural teeth damaged by an external injury.
Ambulance Transportation – air or land service.
Funeral Expenses: In the event of death, up to $5,000 for preparing and transportation of deceased person to the country of origin or up to $3,000 for cremation and/or burial at the place of death.
Repatriation to Residence: the cost of repatriation of insured to his residence by means of appropriate transportation in order to receive immediate medical attention, following an authorization of the attending physician and CanAssistance.
Return of Traveling Companion in case of repatriation of insured.
Return of Vehicle – up to $1,000 for the cost of returning own or rental vehicle due to illness or accident of the insured.
Subsistence Allowance - up to $1,000 ($100 per day) for the cost of accommodation and meals of a travel companion in case of hospitalization of the insured person.
EXCLUSIONS (不受保范围):
ELIGIBILITY: The coverage is available for foreign students, age 49 and younger, who possess a study permit and are enrolled as full time student at an educational institution recognized in Canada. A proof of registration from the educational institution is required.WAITING PERIOD:
72 hours if the insurance is purchased within 30 days AFTER your arrival in Canada
No waiting period if the insurance is purchased BEFORE your arrival in Canada.
PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS:
For persons under 61 years of age - any illness injury or condition that the insured consulted a physician, has been hospitalized or was prescribed medications in the 3 months prior the effective date.
For persons over 61 years of age - any illness injury or condition that the insured consulted a physician, has been hospitalized or was prescribed medications in the 6 months prior the effective date.
OTHER EXCLUSIONS:
- Injury or illness when participating to professional sports and any sports or activity with a high level of stress and risk involved.
- Abuse of medication or alcohol.
- Treatments from chiropractor, podiatrist, acupuncturist, physiotherapist, homeopath and naturopath.
- Pregnancy and complications arising therefrom.
CLAIMS(索赔):
All claims should be reported to Blue Cross in writing within 30 days of acquiring and all original documents have to be transmitted to the insurance company within 90 days.To obtain a claim form the covered person may contact Blue Cross Customer Service Department at: 1-800-387-2538 for Quebec or 1-800-557-3907 for Ontario and Atlantic region.
Failure of the covered person to communicate with CanAssistance in the event of medical consultation or hospitalization following an accident or sudden illness could result in refusal of compensation requested. Toll free Canada, United States: 1-800-361-6068
REFUNDS(退保):Full refund if the policy is cancelled before the effective date.
Partial refund plus cancellation fee ($25) for early return to your country of residence if no claim was submitted.
EXTENSION:
Extension of coverage is available by contacting Blue Cross before expiry data. If a claim has been submitted, approval is required to extend the contract.

SIDE TRIPS:
Trips to the United States are covered if the departure and return points are Canada. Trips to the United State have to be shorter than your stay in Canada.
